The Melbourne Cup – “the race that stops the nation” is the number one reason most companies and venues host an event in Australia – so choose a Melbourne Cup theme backdrop to complete your theme.
The Melbourne Cup was first held in 1861. It was originally over two miles (3.219 km) but was shortened to 3,200 metres (1.988 mi) in 1972 when Australia adopted the metric system.
The Melbourne Cup is run at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Victoria as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. It is the richest ‘two-mile’ handicap in the world, and one of the richest turf races. The event starts at 3pm on the first Tuesday in November.
Not everyone can make it to the track on Melbourne Cup day which is why we developed the Horse Racing 1, Horse Racing 2 and Horse Racing 2B backdrops. We have lots of clients who transform all sort of venues into racing track-inspired spaces – they even bring in turf, jockeys (or staff in jockey outfits) and horses (albeit, fake ones).
While fashions are constantly changing where annual theming options are concerned, there is one key theme that will always be in vogue – the actual race track, horses and of course, Champagne.
So once you’ve got your backdrop sorted, make sure you move onto the other important things – set up a TV, a tote and chilling the bubbly!
